HTC One M9+ launched at Rs 52,250; no One (M9) for India yet

HTC One M9+ launched at Rs 52,250; no One (M9) for India yet
NEW DELHI: HTC, in a surprise move, unveiled the One M9+ smartphone in the country, skipping the India launch of One (M9) altogether. This smartphone will be positioned against Samsung's new Galaxy S6 and Apple's iPhone 6.

Priced at Rs 52,250, HTC One M9+ has a 5.2-inch display with QHD (1440x2560p) resolution, making it the only HTC phone to feature a 2K panel.

Unlike the One M9, however, the M9+ is not powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It has a 2.2GHz MediaTek MT6795T (Helio X) octa-core processor along with 3GB RAM.

It comes with 32GB internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. It has a physical Home button that also doubles up as a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

The One M9+ runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with HTC's Sense UI 7 skin running on top. Users can customize the soft-keys on the screen.

The phone features a 20MP rear camera complete with the duo-camera setup that also includes an additional camera lens for depth sensing, just like the One M8. It's worth pointing out that the One M9 doesn't include the duo-camera setup. The One M9+ also has an UltraPixel front-facing camera for selfies.

One M9+ supports 3G, 4G, Bluetooth, NFC and Infrared connectivity options and has a 2,840mAh battery. HTC announced that it will release its range of Dot View covers for the smartphone.

The company also unveiled its One E9+ phablet in the country. Scheduled to hit the market in May, its price remains undisclosed as of now.

The phablet sports a 5.5-inch 1440x2560p screen with Gorilla Glass 4 protection and Android 5.0-based Sense 7 UI. Powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor and 2GB RAM, the phablet has 32GB internal storage and supports up to 128GB microSD cards.

HTC One E9+ comes with a 20MP camera (covered by sapphire glass) on the back and 4MP UltraPixel camera in front. It comes with the standard connectivity features and has a 2,800mAh battery.

The chief rivals of the new HTC phablet are Apple iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Along with these two high-end smartphones, HTC also took the covers off its entry-level Desire 326G. Pricing and availability details of the smartphone have not been announced yet either.
