Sony's SmartWatch 3 gets a stylish update

Sony's SmartWatch 3 gets a stylish update
Sony's first Android Wear smartwatch, named SmartWatch 3, received a stylish upgrade ahead of CES 2015. The Japanese manufacturer unveiled the stainless steel version of SmartWatch 3, which was launched in November, at the event; the new model will be available for sale from February, the company said.

With this change, SmartWatch 3 will get in competition with other metallic smartwatches like Moto 360, which has garnered positives for being more attuned to users' design preferences than most models in the market.

Apart from the new look, the new SmartWatch 3 model shares all the features with its older sibling. The smartwatch comes with a square dial, measures 36x10x51mm in dimension and weighs 38gram. The watch sports a 1.6-inch transflective TFT LCD screen with 320x320p resolution. It runs on a 1.2GHz ARM A7 quad-core processor with 512MB RAM. The smartwatch has built-in GPS and 420mAh battery.

Those who already own the Sony SmartWatch 3 can choose to buy only the metallic band and use it in conjunction with their existing smartwatch dial.

While the older version of SmartWatch 3 was primarily aimed at those who were more into sports, the metallic version will help Sony lure fashion-conscious customers.
