Apple Macbook Air range to get a design revamp: Report

Apple's rumoured 12-inch Macbook Air may usher in a massive revamp for the laptop range in terms of looks and features.

The rumoured model, which is said to be launched this year, will be even slimmer than the 11-inch Macbook Air available in the market at present, according to a report by technology website 9To5Mac. The laptop will reportedly have thinner bezels around the screen, resulting in higher screen-to-body ratio than existing models. In fact, it is said to be so thin that Apple employees are said to refer to the device as the 'MacBook Stealth.'

Apple is also said to be employing an edge-to-edge design for the keyboard in the new Macbook Air model, meaning that there will be no space left for bezels on either side. Also, the trackpad of the new model will be thinner and longer, ending closer to the keyboard and the frame. The trackpad of the new device is also supposed to have a different clicking effect.

The speakers and the ports of the upcoming Macbook Air have also been tuned up by Apple, with the device having fewer ports than any other Apple computer. The device is anticipated to have a headphone jack on the right side and a new USB Type-C port on the left, abandoning standard USB ports, SD card slot, Thunderbolt and MagSafe charging standards.

Lastly, the new notebook may also come in a different colour than usual. Apple fans can look forward to owning a 'Space Gray' coloured MacBook Air this year.
