Gionee launches Marathon M3 smartphone with 5,000mAh battery

Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has launched Marathon M3 smartphone with a 5,000mAh battery for Rs 12,999. The new Gionee model unseats Lenovo's S860 and P780 (4,000mAh) as the smartphone with the biggest battery life.

According to Gionee, Marathon M3 delivers talk time of 32.46 hours on 3G networks and 51 hours on 2G and can remain on standby for 32.8 days.

The OTG Reverse Charge technology allows this smartphone to act as a power bank and charge other devices when connected via USB cable.

Gionee Marathon M3 has a 5-inch HD (720p) display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It is powered by a 1.3GHz processor with 1GB RAM and comes with 8GB internal storage; it supports microSD cards with storage capacities up to 128GB.

On the back of Gionee Marathon M3 is an 8MP camera, while a 2MP camera is placed in front. Apart from microUSB and Bluetooth, this smartphone can transfer data via HotKnot, which allows two phones to exchange photos and videos in an instant when their screens are put together.

Arvind Vohra, India head, Gionee Smartphones, said, "It gives us immense pleasure to bring the much awaited Marathon M3 to India. We have introduced this for discerning consumers who love to be connected on the go and are in the lookout for powerful devices."

The Lenovo S860 with 4,000mAh battery is available in India for approximately Rs 18,000 at present.
