Android 4.4.4 update now rolling out to Nexus devices

NEW DELHI: Android 4.4.4, the latest release of Google's mobile operating system is now rolling out to Nexus devices. Previously, Google had quietly made factory images of the new build of the OS available for download on the Nexus Factory Image page with images for Nexus 4, 5, 7, and 10 devices.

The Android 4.4.4 update is even smaller in terms of changes compared to Android 4.4.3, which was released a few days back. While the change log doesn't list anything except 'security fixes,' the update addresses CVE-2014-0224, a flaw discovered in OpenSSL after Heartbleed was discovered widely, as per Sascha Pruter, an Android Engineering Program Manager. He also added that the update fixes some other security issues as well.

The Android 4.4.3 update was also more of a performance update that fixed bugs and tweaked the user interface a bit. It fixed excessive battery drain caused by camera apps on some devices. It also brings better looking dialer app and People app.
