HTC One (M8) Prime’s specifications, launch date leaked

The device will have a 5.5-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM and 18MP and 5MP rear cameras.

NEW DELHI: HTC One (M8), the Taiwanese manufacturer's flagship smartphone, is just a couple of months old, but it may soon be replaced at the top. There have been several rumours of the company working on a 'Prime' version of the smartphone, featuring beefier specifications.

A recent post by a Weibo user has leaked alleged specifications of the upcoming HTC One (M8) Prime. According to this post, the device will have a 5.5-inch display with QHD (2560x1440p) resolution and 534ppi pixel density.

The handset is said to be powered by the quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, backed by 3GB RAM; this smartphone is expected to have 16GB built-in storage, but there is no word on microSD card support.

HTC is reportedly retaining the dual-camera setup in the One (M8) Prime. The primary rear camera with have 18MP sensor, while a 5MP camera will be used to add depth to images.

This smartphone is also said to use Qualcomm's MDM9x35 multimode modem, which allows download speeds of 300Mbps.

The report also says that the smartphone will be unveiled in September this year.

Earlier rumours have said that HTC is also working on a plastic-bodied variant of One (M8), which will be considerably cheaper than the current model.

Samsung is also said to be working on a Prime version of Galaxy S5, which will have a metal body and more powerful hardware.
