Sailfish OS gets new features

Sailfish OS gets new features

NEW DELHI: Finnish smartphone maker, Jolla, has released a new update for its Sailfish OS.

Sailfish OS version (Update 5) or Paarlampi, the update offers new features and fixes bugs. The smartphone finally supports MMS (Multimedia Messaging) and can receive mobile data and MMS settings over the air.

Following the update, Sailfish OS now allows two-way sync of Exchange contacts and offers the ability to set a default account for sending emails.

The swipe to close gesture is now available as a setting and is disabled by default, for new users.

The phone's camera app now saves location data (GPS coordinates) in photos captured through the phone's camera and also stores EXIF(Exchangeable image file format) data in these photos.

The update also brings visual interaction hints in events view, browser, camera, email, phone and messages app and keyboard sounds which can be enabled through settings.

The Paarlampi update also improves the Android Runtime fixing security vulnerabilities, bringing proper support for updating and uninstallation of Android apps, and for Android apps that use android camera apps directly instead of the camera API. It also supports sending SMS via Android apps and brings improved 2D/3D performance.

The update also fixes the recently discovered OpenSSL "heartbleed" bug.
