Get $100 discount for ditching old Windows XP

Washington: Ever thought you would be rewarded for ditching? Well, Microsoft is doing so.

As per reports the technology giant is offering a discount of 100 dollars if users buy a new PC and ditch the old Windows XP system which the company launched on October 25, 2001.

Microsoft is ending support to its Windows XP OS on April 8 and is providing consumers and businesses a chance to upgrade their systems.

If someone owns a PC with XP and upgrades it at the Microsoft Store, he'll get 100 dollars off, 90 days of free support, and a 'free data transfer.'

Microsoft said that the offer includes a new PC or Surface device priced at 599 dollars or more and excludes Surface 2 and some PCs.

End of support for XP in April would mean no security updates or technical support for the old operating system from the company.

In the same month, an improvised and updated version Windows 8.1 operating system would be rolled out in a bid to make it easier for traditional desktop users to get familiar with the latest OS that is touted as more tablet-friendly.
