Chinese handset-maker Huawei has launched three new smartphones under its Ascend portfolio at the company's premium SEA launch event in Bangkok. Huawei's three smartphones, Ascend P8, P8 Max and P8 Lite, sport a premium all-aluminum uni-body design and are likely to become available in June.
The Huawei Ascend P8 features a 5.2-inch display with a 1,080x1,920 pixels resolution offering 424ppi, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection The P8 is available in two storage editions, with the 16GB variant powered by a home-made Kirin 930 SoC, and the 64GB model powered by a slightly advanced octa-core 2.0GHz Cortex A53 Kirin 935 SoC. Both the editions offer Micro SD card support for memory expansion up to 128GB along with 3GB RAM, and run Android 5 Lollipop out-of-the-box. The Huawei Ascend P8 sports a 13MP rear camera with OSI and dual LED flash, along with an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calling. The device is powered by a non-removable 2,680mAh battery, and comes with dual nano SIM slots, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and Wi-Fi support.
The Huawei P8 Lite features a 5-inch IPS display with a 1,280x720 pixels resolution offering 294ppi. The handset is powered by an Octa-core 1.2GHz Hisillicon Kirin 620 SoC, paired with 2GB RAM. The P8 Lite sports a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash along with a 5MP front camera, and runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. The device offers 16GB storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via Micro SD card, and is powered by a 2,200mAh battery.
The Huawei P8 Max features a larger 6.8-inch display with a 1,080x1,920 pixels resolution offering 326ppi, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The P8 Max is powered by an Octa-core HiSillicon Kirin 935 SoC, comprised of a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, a Cortex A53 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and a Mali-T628 MP4 GPU. The Huawei P8 Max offers 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB 128GB via Micro SD card. The device sports a 13MP rear camera along with a 5MP front camera and runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS. The Huawei P8 Max packs a 4,360mAh battery, and offers various connectivity options such as LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.
Huawei has not provided any pricing or availability details of the Ascend P8, P8 Max and P8 Lite, though all the three smartphones will reportedly hit the shelves in June.
