Grow your summer garden

There are some plants that need full sun and so this summer, plant your own veggies and enjoy a delicious homegrown dinner.

This summer try painting your thumb green and plant yourself a delicious summer garden. Here are a few veggies that you can grow in your backyard.

1. Green beans - They are nutritious and versatile, roast them, boil them or use them to make curries, grill them or blanch and toss them into a salad - they will taste good. The perfect summertime treat.
Enjoy some green on your plate and a bounty of vitamins, manganese, folate, fiber and potassium too. Just make sure the seeds are plated in a way that they get a lot of sunlight.
2. Cucumbers - Almost no calories, lots of water content, deliciously crisp and cool, cucumbers are not just food, they are beauty therapies for dry, tired eyes as well as dark circles. They need a lot of fertilization and organic manure, so keep that coming in. Also experts suggest that cucumbers be harvested regularly because that increases production.
3. Coriander - A must have for all Indian homes, coriander thrives in warm climates and so its only natural that you grown your own now. Just plant some seeds early in the season so they get plenty of sun and that's it - no more arguing with the sabjiwala for free greens!
