Waterproof version of Moto G in the works: Report

Waterproof version of Moto G in the works: Report
Twitter user EVLeaks has tweeted a photo of the rugged Moto G Forte, which is reportedly headed to Latin America.
NEW DELHI: Moto G has become a huge hit for Motorola and is even the highest selling Motorola smartphone in history. It seems like spurred by the success of the handset, the manufacturer is readying a rugged version of the Moto G.

Twitter user EVLeaks has tweeted a photo of Moto G Forte, which is reportedly headed to Latin America. There is no word on the India launch of this device. It is expected that the rugged version of the low-cost Moto G will have the same specifications and features as the standard model, but will be water- as well as dust-resistant.

Motorola used to manufacture rugged devices as part of its Defy series before it was sold to Google.

Magnus Ahlqvist, Motorola's head for Europe, Apac, Middle East and Asia, told TOI recently that Moto G has been a "phenomenal success in India." He also said that sales beat all expectations of the company, while declining to state specific figures.

Moto G is only available via e-commerce titan Flipkart in India at present. Motorola is currently in talks with retailers in India who want to sell its phones in stores. Ahlqvist earlier said that the company may consider other options in the future, but will continue with the online strategy as it is working extremely well.

Apart from Moto G, Motorola sells Moto X in India.
