Seagate launches new external storage drives in India




NEW DELHI: Storage solutions company Seagate has launched two external storage devices - Backup Plus FAST portable drive and the second generation of Backup Plus Slim, in the Indian market.
The Backup Plus FAST is a portable 4TB storage device that claims to offer twice the capacity and speed of existing external portable drives. This new drive features a superspeed USB 3.0 interface that supports data transfer speeds of up to 220MB per second.
Seagate Backup Plus FAST drive features a metal top-case making the drive sturdy design and resistant to scratches and fingerprints. The drive doesn't need an external power supply and can fit in a camera bag or backpack. 
It also includes the same backup software that comes with all Backup Plus drives. The Seagate Dashboard software claims to provide a one-click backup solution, and can also be used for scheduled backup. Additionally, the Dashboard software also allows users to back up Facebook and Flickr albums. 
It also also includes a mobile backup application to back up digital data on mobile devices with the help of the Seagate Mobile Backup app on an iOS or Android mobile devices. Back up from mobile devices can also be sent directly to the drive via a WiFi connection or through cloud services such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
The 4TB Seagate Backup Plus FAST portable drive is currently available in stores at an MRP of Rs 25,000.
The second generation Seagate Backup Plus Slim, on the other hand, features a compact design and superspeed USB 3.0 interface. The drive fits into 12.1mm form factor. The metal-top case of these drives, available in red, blue, black and silver, is resistant scratches and fingerprints, as per the company.
Seagate Backup Plus Slim portable drive is available at Rs 4250 for the 500GB version, Rs 6000 for the 1TB capacity version and Rs 10,500 for the 2TB variant
