Cut off on your salon visits for pedicure and manicure and try it yourself at home. Here are the tips

In any season, pedicures and manicures are the basic beauty essentials for all. We end up spending a lot for it. But, if you have time on hand, why not try it at home in a cost effective way? Here's a guide to pedicure and manicure to be worked out at home:

- Remove your nail paint using a nail-polish remover.

- To a bowl/small tub, put hot water; add shampoo and a few drops of disinfectant solution. Lather it well.

- Now, soak your feet/hands in the bowl/tub (add cold water as per your need) for 10 minutes.

- Apply petroleum jelly to nails and dip them in water for another five minutes.

- Now, wash off feet/hands, remove the cuticle cream/petroleum jelly. Followed by cutting the nails, filing and shaping them.

- Using a cuticle pusher, push the cuticle skin — you may use a cuticle scissor as well to remove the cuticle skin.

- Using a toothpick, remove dirt and deadskin from the corner of your nails.

- For your feet, using a pumice stone remove the dead skin from your heels.

- Apply body scrub cream to your feet/hand and exfoliate the skin, wash it off properly.

- Now, apply massage cream to feet/hand and massage till the cream is absorbed completely. Wipe off extra cream skin using tissue papers.

- Finally, apply a coat or two of your favourite nail colour.
